An Eye of Horus(Wedjat) amulet, carved from banded striped carnelian with pronounced natural veining in ochre, deep umber, and translucent sand tones. This amulet is distinguished by its broad form, earthy hues, and strikingly fluid surface. The piece depicts the sacred eye in raised relief, with defined brow, cosmetic line, and teardrop motif—evoking the myth of Horus’ eye being restored by Thoth after his battle with Set.
The wadjet was believed to confer protection, health, and regeneration. Carnelian, revered by the Egyptians for its protective and invigorating properties, further amplified the amulet’s potency. Worn or carried by the ancient Egyptians for safeguarding the body and spirit, such talismans were often buried with the deceased to ensure safe passage to the afterlife.
