A carved Eye of Horus(Wedjat) amulet in translucent red-orange carnelian, presenting an exceptional interplay of deep red, burnt amber, and translucent honey tones. The piece retains striation and ridging that were hallmarks of skilled lapidary work from the late New Kingdom. Amulets of this form were protective instruments believed to guard sight, health and spiritual integrity, both in life and in the afterlife. This example was almost certainly worn or placed with the deceased to invoke the divine healing and watchfulness of Horus.
