ANCIENT EGYPT. LATE DYNASTY FAIENCE AMULET OF A HARE (UN). 600-300 B.C

A beautifully preserved blue faience amulet depicting a hare, portrayed in a recumbent posture with its forelegs extended and ears laid back. Carefully modeled in profile, the figure is pierced horizontally through the body, allowing it to be worn or sewn onto linen as a protective charm.
The hare held rich symbolic meaning in ancient Egypt, associated with vigilance, speed, fertility, and sometimes lunar or regenerative themes. Its form appears in both zoological and magical contexts, occasionally linked to the deity Unut, a hare-headed goddess of Hermopolis.
