ANCIENT EGYPT. LATE DYNASTY FAIENCE AMULET OF THOTH. 600-300 B.C

A fine example of an Egyptian faience amulet depicting Thoth, god of wisdom, writing, and divine order. Shown in his classic form as a standing ibis-headed man, the figure retains remarkable anatomical clarity despite its compact size—note the beak, fitted kilt, and elongated form typical of Late Period production. A pierced suspension hole is present at the upper back for stringing. Thoth was one of the most revered deities of the Egyptian pantheon, serving as the scribe of the gods, the inventor of hieroglyphs, and the divine recorder of time and cosmic balance (ma’at). Amulets like this would have been worn for intellectual clarity, protection in judgment, and spiritual authority.
