ANCIENT EGYPT. LATE DYNASTY FAIENCE AMULET OF SHU. 600-300 B.C

A Large turquoise-glazed faience amulet depicting the god Shu, shown kneeling on one leg with arms raised in his canonical pose supporting the vault of the sky. The figure bears a broad, flat-topped headdress and a modeled face with worn but discernible features. The back shows remnants of a suspension loop or backing, suggesting its use as a protective personal charm or funerary inclusion. Shu, the god of the air and atmosphere, played a vital cosmological role as the force separating the sky goddess Nut from the earth god Geb. His iconography, kneeling with uplifted arms, is distinctive and symbolic of cosmic balance and divine order.
