ANCIENT EGYPT. THIRD INTERMEDIATE PERIOD BRONZE STATUE OF OSRIS. INSCRIBED BASE. HIGH QUALITY AND WELL PRESERVED.
1075- 650 B.C
A finely cast bronze figure of Osris, the god of the afterlife, shown mummifrom with arms crossed, holding the crook and flail—symbols of kingship and fertility. He wears the tall atef crown flanked by feathers and fronted by a uraeus. The face is modeled with serene features, a false beard, and striated details across the headdress and collar.
The figure stands atop an integral square base inscribed on multiple sides with hieroglyphs. They appear to be a traditional, devotional inscription invoking divine favor. Red and green patination across the surface attests to its age, with scattered mineral encrustation. A tang extends beneath the base, indicating it was once mounted or fixed within a larger assemblage.
